Treaties, Lands and Environment

The Treaty, Lands & Environment Department protects and advances the rights, lands, and environment of Chippewas of the Thames First Nation. Our work includes land management, additions to reserve, and treaty research, as well as environmental conservation and community consultation. We support land claims, develop land use and acquisition plans, and engage with governments and industry to ensure that our Nation’s rights and interests are respected. Through initiatives like the COTTFN Guardians program, we involve community members in caring for our lands, waters, and ecosystems. Guided by Anishinaabe values and our Comprehensive Community Plan, the department works to restore and protect our territory for present and future generations.
