Child, Youth and Family Well-Being Services

The Child, Youth & Family Well-Being Services Department is dedicated to strengthening families, protecting children, and empowering youth in Chippewas of the Thames First Nation. Guided by a child-centric, culturally grounded model, we focus on prevention, family preservation, and cultural identity. Our goal is to keep children connected to their families and Nation, reduce apprehensions, and create pathways for lifelong wellness. Services include Band Representative advocacy in child welfare matters, Prevention supports for housing, food, and crisis needs, Youth & Recreation programs that promote leadership, sports, and culture, and Post-Majority Services that help youth aged 18–26 transition into independence. Building on our successes, the department is expanding to include Child, Youth, and Adult Mental Health Services, ensuring timely access to clinical supports rooted in Anishinaabe values. By blending cultural teachings, land-based healing, and family support, CYFWBS leads a holistic system that places children and families at the heart of Nation-building.
