Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (flexibility to
work evenings and weekends as required)

Summary:
Reporting to the Youth Development Coordinator, the Youth Prevention Worker provides prevention-focused support, outreach, and programming for children, youth, and young adults of
Chippewas of the Thames First Nation. Working in a First Nation context, the role creates safe, supportive, and culturally grounded spaces that strengthen identity, belonging, leadership,
healthy relationships, and overall wellbeing for youth living on and off reserve.

The position works collaboratively with Child, Youth & Family Well-being staff, schools, health and social service providers, and other Nation departments to support coordinated and
responsive service delivery while upholding confidentiality, quality assurance, and documentation standards.

Responsibilities:
• Provide prevention-focused support, outreach, and programming for children, youth, and young adults.
• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate individual, group, and community-based prevention programming.
• Support culturally grounded activities that strengthen Anishinaabe identity, belonging, and leadership.
• Build collaborative relationships with youth, families, Elders, schools, service providers, and internal departments.
• Provide advocacy, mentorship, and practical support to youth navigating services and resources.
• Support implementation of the COTTFN youth strategy and departmental priorities.
• Organize and support youth-led initiatives, gatherings, and community events.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in CaseWORKS and other approved systems.
• Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
• Prepare activity updates, statistics, and reports and contribute to program evaluation.
• Participate in team meetings, service coordination, and collaborative planning.
• Support community events and prevention activities, including evenings and weekends as required.

Qualifications:
• College diploma in Social Service Worker, Child and Youth Care, Indigenous Studies, or a related field.
• Equivalent education, training, and experience may be considered.
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience working with children, youth, and families.
• Experience working in a First Nation or Indigenous community is strongly preferred.
• Experience facilitating youth programming, prevention education, or outreach.
• Strong documentation, reporting, and computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Experience using CaseWORKS or similar case management systems is an asset.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• ASIST, SafeTALK, or Mental Health First Aid training is an asset.
• Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence, reliable access to a vehicle, and ability to travel as required.
• Clear Police Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
