DESHKAN ZIIBIING (COTTFN) CHARTS A COURSE FOR PROSPERITY WITH NEWLY ELECTED CHIEF AND COUNCIL

DESHKAN ZIIBIING: Chippewas of the Thames First Nation is pleased to announce the results of the 2023 election. The newly elected Chief and Council members have been chosen by voters to lead the First Nation into a promising 2023 – 2025 council term.

This Council term will continue to reflect the community’s commitment to engage and shaping our collective future. The results for Chief and Council are as follows:

o Kingson Huff
o Betsy Kechego
o Leslee White-eye
o Michelle Burch
o Gene Hendrick
o Felicia Huff
o Warren Huff

o Evelyn Young

The newly elected council comes from a diverse range of backgrounds and possesses a wealth of experience that mirrors the rich tapestry of the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation. Together, we will work to foster unity, cultural preservation, sustainable development, and the well-being of all community members.

The Inauguration Ceremony has been postponed and will be rescheduled for a date in August, which community members will be invited to attend.

In closing, I wish to offer my gratitude to the previous Chief and members of the Council for all the hard work and dedication they have demonstrated throughout their past term. I look forward to building upon the laid-out priorities of Council and look forward to breaking new ground as we progress ahead.

I also wanted to send my sentiments of appreciation to all our election candidates, who have demonstrated their commitment to serving the people and displayed their ambition to move towards a hopeful future for our Nation and our people.
